So, I continue to play with the macro setting on my lens without actually knowing what I am doing. Cliche, I know, but I experimented with flowers. I was pretty impressed with the detail once I put the images on the computer, but I still didn’t feel like they were true macro shots.
Then I decided to zoom in while I was editing the images.
Maybe I was getting somewhere. Then I started editing this lily.
I realize that significantly cropping the image is not a true macro shot, but I was amazed at the detail there was even with the image below. I can actually see the pollen! I should probably just figure out how to actually use the setting, then maybe I wouldn’t have to crop them.

Michele, a beautiful series. I especially like “The advancing Daylily” shots. Shows the progression from realism to macro abstraction.

I like the crop effects! I just have a point-and-shoot with decent macro for that kind of camera, so I have a lot of the same types of photos as your original lily one. I never thought of cropping them to see what I get, I’ll have to try that this weekend.

It was kind of a fluke that I thought to crop them. I accidentally zoomed in on the picture while I was processing it and saw the added detail. So, I thought I’d just crop away and see what happened!
